# Reverse repurchase agreement

A transaction in which one party buys securities and agrees to sell them back later at a set price — economically, a short-term collateralized loan. Stablecoin reserves commonly hold overnight reverse repurchase agreements collateralized by Treasuries; the GENIUS Act permits them within stated conditions, and issuer reports state the amounts held.
